People often assume that the cost of a Montessori education is beyond what they can afford or that the opportunity to attend a Montessori school is reserved for families in the highest income brackets. This is not true! Although it is not a free public school education, Montessori school can be affordable and beneficial for everyone. Many Montessori schools offer financial aid opportunities that can assist with the cost of tuition. We do recognize that a Montessori school education is an additional expense. However, we also recognize that this evidence-based way of educating young people is a great investment now in a child’s current well-being, growth, maturity. The profit can be found in the self-esteem and self-awareness that your child will exude and the great success that they will have in the future.
What is Included in Montessori Tuition and Costs
Tuition and fees at Montessori Schools are used in many ways to ensure that our young students receive a unique and personal education. We seek out and recruit the best teachers that most often appreciate and value the opportunity to guide students at their own pace through pre-planned lessons. They value the free flow of exploration and thought just as much as the students. Additionally, we maintain smaller class sizes that are not overwhelming for students and teachers so that your child is able to thrive. They are not clamoring for the attention of an educator that is inundated with strict schedules, time frames, grades, and standardized tests. Student and teacher can focus on exploratory learning and your student will find validation in their own personal success.
At Williamsburg Montessori School, our curriculum is unique. It is based on three planes of human development. The environment and lessons are designed with the child’s intellectual, social, emotional, and moral development in mind. In the First Plane (Birth to Six) – children are sensorial learners who absorb the world around them through their six senses. For the Second Plane (Six to Twelve) – Children are conceptual learners who explore the world around them asking the questions of how and why. In the Third Plane (Twelve to Fifteen) – Adolescents are humanistic learners who want to understand their place in the world and how to make a contribution to it. You will not find this approach in a traditional school. In order to successfully provide this proven effective educational alternative, tuition is needed. Public school is free for all, but unfortunately, there are sacrifices in the form of federal budget cuts and overcrowded classrooms that must be made to sustain that free price tag.
